  10.  1) The 1769 edition of the 1611 Authorised Version is not in the public
  11.     domain in the United Kingdom. Extracts from the Authorised Version of
  12.     the Bible, the rights in which are vested in the Crown, are reproduced
  13.     by permission of the Crown's patentee, Cambridge University Press.
  14.     Outside the United Kingdom this version is in the public domain.  The
  15.     Online Bible has permission from the Queen's Printers to distribute the
  16.     electronic version in the United Kingdom without having to pay royalties
  17.     to the crown.

  19.     Opening titles are in "<< >>" in the Psalms and are shown as part of
  20.     the first verse. The postscripts to the Pauline Epistles are displayed
  21.     in the same way. All words that would normally be shown in italics are
  22.     surrounded by "[ ]". These are words supplied by the translator. In
  23.     the New Testament, the "[ ]" sometimes indicate textual variations
  24.     between the 1550 Stephanus text and the text used for the 1611
  25.     version.  There are a handful of cases where words are in brackets and
  26.     have Strong's numbers assigned to them. This is not an error on our
  27.     part. (e.g. 2Ki 19:31, 2Ch 10:16, Jer 6:14 in OT)
  28.           (e.g. Ac 26:3 in NT)

  30.     The Englishman's Strong's numbers are taken from the Englishman's
  31.     Greek and Hebrew concordance and should be 100 per cent accurate.

  33.     These numbers are shown as "<123>". Extensions to Strong's numbers are
  34.     shown as "(8690)". Look up the number in the lexicon's to find out what
  35.     it means.

  37.     Marginal notes are displayed as footnotes as follows, "{ ... }"
  38.     Press Control T until a "+" appears in the lower right hand window.
  39.     About 8400 marginal notes are included. Not all verses have these.
  40.     Most of the notes are in the Old Testament.

  42.  2) The 1833 Webster Update is included as part of the 1769 Authorised
  43.     Version. To activate, press Control T until a "=" appears in the lower
  44.     right hand window. Most of the Webster renderings are included plus 
  45.     changes from some modern versions. The intent was to get rid of the 
  46.     obsolete words and phrases, untangle the grammar and still have an 
  47.     Elizabethan translation. This work is intended only for study purposes
  48.     and we have no plans to print it. We do not claim that it is perfect.
  49.     The changes for the most part are quite minor and do improve the
  50.     readability of the Authorised Version. In no way can this work be
  51.     considered a new translation.

  53.  Notes on the 1769 AV Version.

  55.     Version 6.0 has the exact 1769 Authorised Version (AV) text.
  56.  Sharpe Electronics in Japan spent a great deal of money to prove
  57.  otherwise and failed. They found no errors.  We have found that AV
  58.  Bibles published by the University Printing House in Cambridge,
  59.  England, are much more accurate than those published elsewhere. Only
  60.  the Cambridge Bible with "Concord 8vo Bold-figure refs." in the
  61.  lower left hand corner of the title page, has the exact 1769 text.
  62.  If you think you have found an error, check this Cambridge AV Bible.
  63.  The next most accurate AV Bible has over one hundred errors.

  65.     The following deviations from the AV text are intentional:
  66.  
  67.  1. Most Proper names are not hyphenated. This was done to
  68.     simplify searching for names. Some words still contain
  69.     hyphens, e.g.  God-ward, us-ward, you-ward and so forth.
  70.  
  71.  2. For ease of searching, embedded capitals are not used. The
  72.     following two words,  Aenon and Aeneas, should properly be
  73.     AEnon and AEneas.  Only the first letter is capitalised.

  75.  3. The paragraph markers used are not from the standard AV 
  76.     Bible.  That is because we were unable to find an AV Bible 
  77.     with all the text marked in paragraphs. They stopped after 
  78.     Acts 20. Therefore we used the text divisions found in 
  79.     Matthew Henry's Commentary.

  81.     The following points of grammar will help you understand this
  82.  translation better. The first two points are from Strunk and White's
  83.  classic book on English style, "The Elements of Style".
  84.  
  85.  1. SHALL. WILL. In formal writing, the future tense requires SHALL
  86.     for the first person, WILL for the second and third. The formula
  87.     to express the speaker's belief regarding his future action or
  88.     state is "I shall"; "I will" expresses determination or his
  89.     consent. A swimmer in distress cries, "I shall drown; no-one will
  90.     save me!" A suicide puts it the other way: "I will drown and
  91.     no-one shall save me!"
  92.  
  93.  2. THAT. WHICH. THAT is the defining, or restrictive pronoun, WHICH
  94.     the non-defining, or nonrestrictive. "The sword that is broken is
  95.     in my hand." (Tells you which one.) "The sword, which is broken,
  96.     is in my hand." (Adds a fact about the only sword in question.)

  98.  3. THOU, THEE, YE, YOU. THOU is used for the subject of the verb for
  99.     the second person singular.  "Thou art the one." THEE is used for
  100.     the object of a verb for the second person singular. "I gave thee
  101.     everything." YE is used for the subject of a verb for the second
  102.     person plural. "Praise ye the LORD." YOU is used for the object
  103.     of a verb for the second person plural. "I give you this." Modern
  104.     English uses YOU for all four cases.

  106.  These points of English usage shall enrich your Bible study if you
  107.  will apply them.

  109.  Discrepancies Between Various Authorised Versions Bibles

  112.  The following is extracted from a letter (dated June 28, 1990) sent
  113.  to the Trinitarian Bible Society, 217 Kingston Road, London, England
  114.  SW19 3NN by Ted Welmen, Terra Pacific Writing Corporation, P.O. Box
  115.  1244, Corvallis, OR 97339.  Sharp Electronics of Japan, hired Terra
  116.  Pacific to verify that the Bible text used by the Online Bible was
  117.  accurate. It was.

  119.  The result of our quest for Sharpe, is a report from us that there
  120.  are no errors in the electronic text (Online Bible), provided the
  121.  correct Bible ("Concond 8v0 Bold-figures refs." printed on the title
  122.  page) is referenced.  We are assuming this Bible to be THE Bible.

  124.  The following list the discrepancies between two Bibles published by
  125.  Cambridge Press, the Concord 8v0 and the Pitt Minion Bibles. The
  126.  discrepancies are minor, mostly punctuation and minor spelling
